The Dentist

안녕하세요 오늘의 페파피그 에피소드는 The Dentist입니다. 입을 벌리고 있는 모습이 참 귀엽네요. 에밀리의 아빠가 치과의사인가 봅니다. 나나도 치과를 몇 번 데려가 보았는데 늘 긴장하면서 저한테 매달리거든요. 어른들에게나 아이들에게나 치과는 두려움의 대상이죠 그렇다 보니 그림책이나 이런 만화에서도 주요 에피소드로 들어가는가 봐요. 페파도 즐겁게 검사받으니까 나나도 잘할 수 있을 거야! 이번 에피소드를 통해 치과에 대한 즐거운 기억이 또 하나 생겼습니다. 

 

1. 내용 요약

정기 검진인가 봅니다. 페파와 죠지는 치과에 가기 위해 깨끗이 이를 닦아요. 죠지는 치과에 처음 간다고 하네요. 죠지는 낯선 경험이 필요할 때마다 페파의 도움을 받네요. 씩씩하게 먼저 자리에 앉는 페파인데요. 검사 결과 깨끗하고 건강하대요. 그러자 죠지도 조심스럽게 앉았어요. 다행히 죠지도 깨끗하고 이상 없어요. 페파처럼 핑크색 물로 가글도 하고 내려왔어요 그런데 갑자기 치과선생님이 죠지의 공룡인형의 이가 더럽다고 깨끗이 해준다고 해요. 목욕도 같이 하는 공룡이기에 치카도 하고 가글도 죠지가 시켜주네요. 반짝반짝 공룡 이빨이 아주 하얗고 깨끗해졌어요.

 

2. Script 해석

NARRATOR: Every morning, Peppa and George brush their teeth.

매일 아침 페파와 죠지는 이를 닦습니다.
Today, Peppa and George are going to the dentist.

오늘 페파와 죠지는 치과에 갈 거예요.
Mummy: Peppa! George! Are you ready to go for your checkup?

페파! 죠지! 검진하러 갈 준비 됐니?
Peppa: I'm too busy for a checkup. I'm having a tea party with Teddy.

검진하러 가기엔 너무 바빠요. 태디와 티파티를 하고 있어요.

Teddy: Yes, we're very busy.

그래 우리 너무 바빠
Daddy: We all need checkups. To make sure our teeth are clean and healthy.

검진은 우리 모두 꼭 필요하단다. 치아가 깨끗하고 건강한지 확인하기 위해서지.
Peppa: Okay, Daddy. 알겠어요 아빠.
George, are your teeth clean like mine?

죠지 네 이빨도 나처럼 깨끗하니?
NARRATOR: It is George's first visit to the dentist.

죠지는 치과에 처음 방문합니다.
Daddy: You both have lovely, clean teeth.

너희 둘 다 치아가 예쁘고 깨끗하구나
I'm sure the dentist will be very happy.

치과선생님도 아주 좋아하실 거야.
NARRATOR: Peppa and George are at the dentist's, waiting for their checkup.

페파와 죠지는 치과에서 검진 순서를 기다리고 있습니다.
Peppa: Waiting is boring. 기다리는 건 지루해요.
Daddy: This magazine's very interesting. 이 잡지가 아주 재밌구나. 
It's all about potatoes. 모두 감자에 대한 거야.
Miss Rabbit: Peppa? George? The dentist will see you now.

페파? 죠지? 치과선생님이 지금 너희를 보실 거야.
Peppa: Hooray! 만세!
NARRATOR: This is Dr. Elephant, the dentist.

치과의사 Dr. Elephant입니다.
Dr. Elephant: Hello, Peppa. Have you been brushing your teeth?

안녕 페파. 양치질 잘하고 있니?
Peppa: Yes, Dr. Elephant! 네 Dr. Elephant.
Dr. Elephant: Good. Now, who's first? 좋아. 누가 먼저 할까?
Peppa: I'm first, because I'm a big girl. 제가 먼저요. 왜냐면 나는 누나니까요. 
Watch me, George! 잘 봐 죠지!
Dr. Elephant: Sit in the chair, please. 의자에 앉아보렴.
Hold tight. 꽉 잡아.
Dr. Elephant: Open wide, please. 입을 크게 벌려보렴.

Peppa: Ah. 아
Dr. Elephant: Wider, please. Ah! Now. Let's take a look. 더 크게 아! 어디 보자.
NARRATOR: Dr. Elephant uses a little mirror to look at Peppa's teeth.

Dr. Elephant는 작은 거울로 페파의 치아를 살펴봅니다.
Dr. Elephant: I hope you haven't been eating too many sweeties, Peppa!

너무 단건 먹지 않았으면 좋겠구나, 페파!
NARRATOR: It is quite difficult to speak when your mouth is wide open.

입을 크게 벌리고 말하는 것은 꽤 어렵습니다.
Dr. Elephant: There! All done! What lovely clean teeth!

됐다. 다 끝났어. 이가 아주 예쁘고 깨끗하구나.
Daddy: She takes after me. 날 닮았어요.
Peppa: Can I have the special pink drink now? 이제 스페셜 핑크 음료 마셔도 되나요?
Dr. Elephant: Yes! But don't drink it, Peppa, spit it out. 그래! 그런데 마시면 안 돼 페파 뱉어내도록 해
Peppa: George, now it's your turn. 죠지, 이제 네 차례야.
George: No. 싫어.
NARRATOR: George does not want it to be his turn. 죠지는 자기 차례인걸 원치 않았어요.
Mummy: Maybe you can hold Mr. Dinosaur, while the dentist looks at your teeth.

선생님이 이를 봐주실 동안 아마 미스터 다이노쏘를 잡고 있으면 될 거야.
George: Grrrr! Dine-Saw! 그릉! 다이노-쏘!
Dr. Elephant: Very pleased to meet you, Mr. Dinosaur. 아주 반가워요 미스터 다이너쏘우.
Peppa: It's not a real dinosaur. It's made of plastic.

이건 진짜 공룡이 아니에요. 플라스틱이에요.
Dr. Elephant: Hold tight. 꽉 잡으렴.
You're doing very well, George. 잘하고 있어 죠지
Now, can you show me your teeth? 이제 이를 보여주겠니?
NARRATOR: George does not want to show the dentist his teeth.

죠지는 치과선생님에게 이를 보여주고 싶지 않았어요.
Peppa: George, open wide. Like this...  Ah! 죠지 이렇게 아! 하고 크게 벌려봐
George: Ah! 아! 
Dr. Elephant: Ah, there they are. 아, 저기 있네. 
All done. 잘했어.
You have very strong, clean teeth, George. 이가 아주 튼튼하고 깨끗하구나, 죠지 
Peppa: Are they as lovely as mine, Dr. Elephant? Ah.  

저처럼 사랑스러운 가요, Dr. Elephant? 아.
Dr. Elephant: Yes. 그래
NARRATOR: George is very proud to have clean teeth.

죠지는 깨끗한 이가 아주 자랑스러웠답니다.
Peppa: George! Don't forget the pink drink. 죠지! 핑크 음료 잊지 마.
Dr. Elephant: Oh, but wait. What's this? 오 그런데 기다려봐. 이게 뭐지?
Mummy: What's wrong, Dr. Elephant? 뭐 잘못됐나요, Dr. Elephant?
Dr. Elephant: George has clean teeth, but this young dinosaur's teeth are very dirty.

죠지는 이가 깨끗한데, 이 공룡 이빨은 아주 더럽군요.
Peppa: Oh no! Dr. Elephant is very cross with Mr. Dinosaur.

오 안돼! Dr. Elephant는 공룡에게 아주 화가 났어요.
Dr. Elephant: Ha! Ha! Not at all, Peppa.

하하 전혀 그렇지 않단다 페파
It's my job to make teeth clean. 이를 깨끗하게 하는 게 내 일이거든.
The water jet, please, Miss Rabbit. 워터젯을 준비해 줘요 미스래빗.
NARRATOR: The dentist uses water to clean Mr. Dinosaur's teeth.

치과의사는 공룡의 이빨을 물로 닦아줬어요.
Dr. Elephant: The polisher, please, Miss Rabbit.

연마기도 주세요. 미스래빗.
This will be a bit noisy.  이건 좀 시끄러울 거예요.
NARRATOR: Dr. Elephant polishes Mr. Dinosaur's teeth.

Dr. Elephant는 공룡의 이빨에 광을 내주었어요.
George: Pink! Pink! 핑크! 핑크!
Dr. Elephant: That's right, George. 맞아, 죠지
Mr. Dinosaur needs some special pink drink. 공룡도 스페셜 핑크 음료가 좀 필요해.
Miss Rabbit: Gosh. What shiny teeth you have, Mr. Dinosaur.

어머나! 공룡 이빨이 반짝반짝하네요.
George: Grrrrr. Dine-Saw. 그릉. 다인-쏘

Peppa: Eek. Too scary. 으익 너무 무서워
NARRATOR: George loves Mr. Dinosaur. 죠지는 미스터 다이노쏘를 아주 좋아해요.
Especially now he has nice, clean teeth. 특히 이제 이빨이 멋지고 아주 깨끗해졌답니다.
